In the Learning Zone with Mark Field! In the Learning Zone with Mark Field!
This week is the final part of the latest Learning Zone programme and the children got the opportunity to question Wakefield Wildcats’ player Mark Field.

Below are a selection of the questions and answers.

1) How did you become a professional rugby league player?
“I started off playing at amateur level for Oulton Raiders and whilst I was playing there, Gary Lord who was coaching the U18’s asked me to come to Wakefield for a trial.”

2) What do you do in the spare time?
“I like to keep fit when I’m not playing rugby, see my mates, go to the cinema and spend time with my girlfriend.”

3) What will you do when you finish playing rugby?
“Well at the minute I’m doing a course at college, training to be an electrician so I’ll probably do that.”

4) Who were your heroes when you were growing up?
“Gary Connelly and Kris Radlinski.”

5) What’s your favourite food?
“Steak and Chips.”

6) Who is the best player in the team?
“There are lots of different players with different talents and abilities, but there are lots of good players, I couldn’t pick one.”

7) Where would you like to go in the world?
“Me and my mates might be going to Australia at the end of this year to travel, so I’d probably say Australia.”

8) Who is the quietest player in the team?
“Adam Watene.”

9) Who is the toughest player in the team?
“Probably Sam Obst because he tackles well above his weight.”

10) What’s your funniest memory in rugby league?
“Well this year it would have to be in the first game against Hull KR when the linesman went to put his flag up and he fell over in front of SKY.”

11) What was your favourite teddy when you were a child?
"I didn't have a favourite teddy but I used to carry a velvet hat around with me all the time."

12) Who do you admire the most?
“In rugby league, probably Jason Robinson because he’s played both codes and it shows how versatile he is. In life, I’d have to say my dad just because he’s always been there for me and in the team, Jason Demetriou because he’s a good captain.”

13) What is the best game you’ve played in?
“Against Hull nearly three years ago when we won them in the play-offs.”

14) What is the best thing about your job?
“Getting to come to work and be with my friends all the time.”
