Leeds United set to face Macclesfield Town in Carling Cup Opener - 13/6
LEEDS United have landed a first-round Carling Cup date at League Two minnows Macclesfield Town - and a first-ever match against the Cheshire outfit. The draw pits together big buddies Paul Ince and Dennis Wise, with pair having been fond friends during their days with the England national team.
The arrival of the once-mighty Whites in Macclesfield is bound to attract big interest in Cheshire as the hosts aim to claim a famous cup scalp under Ince, who completed a sterling against-all-odds mission to save them from relegation back to the Conference after they looked doomed last autumn.
The tie at Moss Rose - which has a capacity of just 6,355 - takes place on the week beginning August 13.
