A masterplan has been put into place to redevelop Paragon Business Plan by Yorkcourt Properties. The masterplan is to provide Wakefield with an integrate residential and business community. This together will then be supported by a balanced mix of sports, leisure, retail and educational facilities, which will all be set in a landscaped environment.
The business village will represent a mixed use business location, that will help to advance and develop the people who work, study and live in Wakefield.
The site is ideally situated only one mile from the M1 and simply minutes away from Wakefield’s City Centre. The Business Village will offer flexible accommodation with a high specification and will include a hotel, restaurant, leisure complex and a creche.
There is over 80,000 sq ft of office accommodation that is already let. Residents include Watermark, Cape Industrial Services, Ridale Developments and Beaumont Legal. Nationwide Building Society is another onsite resident. They fitted out a 25,000 sq ft regional headquarters, which was officially opened in April 2006. The building has also been chosen by the Office of Deputy Prime Minister for the new fire control centre, which will cover the whole of Yorkshire and Humber. The centre is expected to be live in 2008 and will replace the other four existing 999 fire control rooms in Humberside, North Yorkshire, West Yorkshire and South Yorkshire. The centre will take charge of all emergency calls and will deliver a better fire and rescue service for the region.
The Government chose Paragon Business Village as the location for this new scheme for numerous reasons. One being, the land’s suitabilty for the development. A second reason was for the the accessibility of the site itself. The third being the excellent transport links that the site provides and finally, the local demographics.
Onsite facilities at the site, are further expanding. This will create opportunities located at the Business Village. This may include opportunities at Bannatynes Fitness Centre or Whitbread’s Pub.
This fantastic business development allows direct access to M1 at J1 and permission has been granted for a hotel opposite this site on the A650.
