City Centre Success for Wildcats

Wakefield Trinity Wildcats went to town big style last weekend.

In a two-day campaign the Wildcat Superstore was temporarily moved lock, stock and barrel into a retail unit in the Ridings Shopping Centre for both Saturday and Sunday while there was a major promotional event staged in the Cathedral Precinct on Saturday.

Some of the club’s leading players Daryl Millard, Sam Obst and Aaron Murphy were in the city centre shop to play Wii games against any fans who would take it up with them.

There were 25 per cent discounts on replica shirts and a 15 per cent discount on all the other club goods on offer!

The Wildcat Kittens strutted their stuff outside the Cathedral as well as in the shop.

James Elston, the Wildcats Chief Executive, said: “It proved to be a really popular attraction for not only the Wildcat fans but other Rugby League fans that were passing through the city.

“We wanted to take advantage of us not having a Carnegie Challenge Cup tie by visiting the city centre and making ourselves accessible to the fans.

“The weekend store was a fantastic success, both in terms of sales and awareness of the club; I would like to thank the Ridings Shopping Centre for playing its part in helping with our promotion.

“We will continue working with the Ridings and considering our options concerning a permanent base in the city centre.”
