Wakefield Trinity Wildcats Under 20s team were narrowly beaten 30-22 by a representative French Federation team containing three full internationals.
A positive for the Wildcats was the comeback after injury of Australian centre Darryl Millard.
At halftime the Wildcats were trailing 22-4 but staged a magnificent second-half recovery to fall narrowly short.
Coach Tony Drury said: “I was really pleased with the way the players reacted on the day although we were disappointed with the result. We won the second half 18-8 and that said a great deal about the team’s character.”
