Outwood are advised by Wildcats Development Officer Richard Cattley and they built on their Year Seven triumph in 2009.
And to mark their latest victory they have been congratulated by John Kear, the Wildcats Head Coach and Director of Rugby.
“To win anything at Rugby League is very special,” said Kear. “That’s because it means you have to work closely as a team and every player has to dedicate themselves to the cause.
“I’d like to congratulate everybody concerned with the Outwood team. It was an achievement to reach the Final and to win it reflects great credit on the players, coaches and everybody who supports them at the school.”
The Wakefield school had their hands full with the plucky youngsters from Essex and it wasn’t until the latter stages of the Final that they succeeded in pulling clear.
Star performer for Outwood was their captain and centre Jacob Ware who registered a hat-trick of tries.
And here is a report of their Final.
Outwood Grange 38-8 Brentwood County High (Essex)
The score line suggests the Final was easy for Outwood, but that couldn’t be further from the truth, with Brentwood being within one score of levelling the match two minutes into the second half.
Outwood went in 10-0 up at half-time thanks to tries from Kieran Holt and a Jacob Ware. The latter was a fantastic solo effort with Ware running from inside his own half to score in the right hand corner.
Shortly after the break a hanging kick from Brentwood captain Henry Bird resulted in a mistake from the defence, allowing Oliver Tooze-East to score.
The deficit was soon increased again as McGretton converted his own try. However, Brentwood didn’t give up and back they came with a try through the impressive Bird, to the left of the posts.
Some heavy Brentwood pressure followed but Outwood defended resolutely much to their opponent’s frustration.
Brentwood were rewarded for their stubborn defending when they ran in four tries within the last ten minutes. The first of those was from man of the match, Tom McGretton, who averted two challenges to score.
Jacob Ware scored a further two tries and the scoring was complete when Max Jowitt beat two players to touchdown in the corner.
