Wildcat Dolls come out on top!

Wednesday night saw another fantastic Carnegie 9’s Event with the first ever Cheerleaders Touch Competition take place between 4 of the top Cheerleading Squads in Super League. The Castleford Claws, Warrington Fusion, Radio Aire Dance Team and the Wildcat Dolls battled it out to be crowned Cheerleaders Touch Competition 2010 Winners.

The first games were Wildcat Dolls vs Warrington Fusion, and Radio Aire Dance Team vs Castleford Claws. The Wildcat Dolls beat the Warrington Team 1-0, but the game on the opposite side of the field was a fiery game which came out as a draw. It was then back into the Tunnell to decide who was to play the Wildcat Dolls in the Final. In the end, Leeds decided they would take on Warrington, as a special treat for the Leeds and Warrington Fans that would have their minds on this Saturdays Challenge Cup Final, so it was the Claws who had to step up and play the mighty Wildcat Dolls.

After a shaky start the Wildcat Dolls got into their stride and ran hard at the Claws, but both teams were fantastic in defence so it needed a pass out wide to flying winger Michelle Eadie to get the much needed try to bring the Wildcat Dolls out on top.

The Dolls were then presented their trophy by Tournament Director Lionel Hirst and posed for photographs before then changing out of their Rugby Boots and into their Dancing shoes for their usual role of looking fabulous and cheering on a great Carnegie 9’s final between Bradford and Wigan.

Head Wildcat Doll said “We had a fantastic night! We had so much adrenaline going out and playing on the pitch, we wished we could have played for longer! We are hoping to arrange a bigger event next year and involve more cheerleaders from other clubs and at the same time raise money for the RFL Benevolent Fund-so ladies – get training!”
