King and Rinaldi stay with the Wildcats

Wakefield Trinity Wildcats have confirmed that both prop forward Paul King and hooker Julien Rinaldi have agreed new one-year contracts with the club for 2011.

King, 31, pictured left joined Wakefield from his home-city club Hull FC in November 2009 and overcame a bout of illness at the start of Engage Super League XV to become a valued member of John Kear’s squad. Even in a difficult season for Trinity he maintained his form and was in the running for the club’s player-of-the-year award by the end of the season.

Rinaldi was tempted back into Super League from French Rugby League where he had been a player-coach with Villeneuve Leopards in June and he became a valuable member of the Wildcat squad in the second half of the 2010 season. It is his second spell with Trinity as the 31-year-old hooker had previously been with the club in 2002 before spells with Catalans Dragons, Harlequins and Bradford Bulls as clubs in both Australia and France.

John Kear, the Wakefield Head Coach and Director of Rugby, said: “Both Paul and Julien worked hard last year and made significant contributions to the team during a tough season for the club.

“We have some outstanding young players emerging from our development system and both Paul and Julien will provide them with good role models as well as being able to make their own contribution to what will be an important season for the Wildcats.”
