Touch Rugby approaches final week

posted on 23 September 2010

Next Wedensday Belle Vue plays host to the final weekly league fixtures for the Wildcats Touch Rugby Leagues. Following the previous nine weeks competition two teams from each division have realistic hopes of taking away the league title.

In the Social B league Card Factory Blue sit at the top of the pile with Double D’s just one point behind. Double D’s will have an anxious wait as their fixture takes place prior to the ‘Blues’ next week knowing that their fate is out of their hands. Victory would put pressure on the ‘Blues’ however the ‘D’s’ title aspirations will be dashed if the ‘Blues’ win their ‘Derby match against Card Factory Greens in the final match on pitch 1.

In Social A the only unbeaten side in the whole competition, the Cobra Kai’s, are the leaders with the Past Players snapping at their heels. As with Double D’s, the Past Players will have to wait to see if Cobra Kai’s hand the league to them. Seperated by 2 league points, a loss by Cobra Kai’s could see Past Players steal the title from under them – provided they make up the 8 point points difference. Cobra Kai’s only need to avoid defeat to win the title.

The league winners trophies will be presented on the night after the deciding matches so competing teams are encouraged to stay behind to watch. The trophies have been kindly sponsored by ‘Back in Action Rehabilitation Ltd’ of Sandal.

The following week (6th October) all the teams from the leagues will be thrown into the mix together to compete in the now traditional ‘Challenge Cup’. Up for grabs are the Challenge Cup for winners of the 1st round, with the runners up entered into the Plate.
