Community Blog 2!

Hi Again! The Community team have had a great last Friday with all the fans outside the Town Hall when we were waiting for the news on our new stadium – and as you know the news was good!! Daddy Cool came along and entertained the crowds, and we had a visit from St Michaels School who showed us their support on David Palmers Party bus!!

It was a great end to a really busy week, the highlight being 2 fantastic festivals involving over 10 schools.

The first festival took place at Walton Rugby League Club, and there was some great Rugby League played by both the boys and the girls teams. Lots of great defence and brilliant try scoring ability, with all games really close it was hard to see who would walk away with the trophy. Eventual winners of the Boys tournament were Sharlston Primary School and the winners of the Girls’ tournament were Walton School.
We would also like to thank Crofton Juniors, Sandal Magna and Sandal Endowed for taking part and making the festival a great success. We are hoping that since all these children had such a great time, they might join the Walton Under 11’s team.

The second, took place here at Belle Vue and we had schools from the Barnsley District. The boys and girls from Richard Newman, Summer Lane and Kexborough were pitted against each other for the Barnsley title. As with the first festival, the games were very close and both the boys and girls finals went to extra time. The winners of the girl’s tournament were Richard Newman and the boys winners were Summer Lane.

We’ve also been in Middlestown, Lofthouse Gate, Sharlston, Jerry Clay Lane, Cathedral, St James and City High promoting our Junior Season Tickets, don’t forget the £20 offer is only available till Christmas!

Dan had a great week as his trailer finally arrived, from which he will run his children in Need Project. The trailer had its first outing at the Town Hall this morning, we love our new toy!

Friday afternoon was spent planning the Halloween Party which is This Thursday from 6 – 7:30pm. We have players coming, a DJ, and we’ve got some great games planned – all we have to do now is find our fancy dress outfit!! Make sure you come along! Parents welcome – the bar will be open!
