Wakefield Trinity Wildcats were saddened today following the news of the death of one of their volunteers Roy Dutton.
Roy had been a popular member of the stadium’s “working party” for many years and contributed a great deal of time and effort to the maintenance of both the stadium and pitch.
Roy passed away on Wednesday morning due to complications with an illness he had struggled with for some time.
Speaking earlier today Wildcats’ Operations Director Francis Stephenson said “Roy was an integral part of the club and his passing will leave a gaping hole that will be hard to fill.”
“He had a unique outlook on life and his humorous observations of the world around him never failed to raise a smile on the faces of his friends and colleagues.”
“We all have many great memories of Roy and his time at the club and I am sure we will get the opportunity to reflect on those thoughts in the days ahead.”
We would like to pass on our heartfelt condolences to his wife Margaret and son Steve, to whom we also extend our sympathies at this sad time.
