Wakefield Wildcats are pleased to announce more signings that will strengthen and develop their youth department.

Five full time signings have been completed and The Wildcats are delighted to have these young players on board.

19 year old Back Rower, Andy Tate, has joined The Wildcats from the Bradford Bull’s Academy. He played in the Under 20’s Academy side that beat Wigan, at Wigan, 32-30 and made his First Team debut for the Bull’s in the Boxing Day fixture against The Castleford Tigers in 2009.

Joel Gibson, Chris Annakin, Jordon Grayston and Adam Slater have all come from our own Under 18’s Team and have signed full time contracts with the club. All four players, featured in the side that won the Under 18’s Grand Final last year. Two of the players, Adam Slater and Joel Gibson, are following in their father’s footseps. Richard Slater is a former Wildcat and Carl Gibson represented Great Britain three times.

Josh Hardcastle, another player that began his young career at Wakefield, has made a move from amateur club Featherstone Lions and signed a part time contract at The Wildcats.

Head of Youth Development at The Wildcats, Tony Drury, commented, “Every one of these young lads has drive, skill and great potential.’

“I have been very impressed with their performances at Academy level and I can’t wait to begin work on the field with them this season. I am certain that they have a great future in front of them here at The Wildcats.”
