Girls Rugby Graces Belle Vue

posted on 26 November 2010

Belle Vue Stadium hosted the first U13 girl’s league fixtures of the season yesterday, thanks to funding from Sport England,.

Four teams from Freestone High School, Castleford High School and Ossett High School took part in the tournament. Each school played each other during 15 minute games. Given the cold conditions all four teams demonstrated sheer determination to succeed. The end results where as follows;

1st – Freestone A, 2nd – Castleford High, 3rd – Ossett School and 4th – Freestone B

Wildcats Women & Girls Development Officer, Clare Marlow said “The main intention of the league fixtures today was to provide the girls with more game time ahead of next years Carnegie Champion Schools Competition.”

“For me it has been fantastic to see the girls having such a good time within a professional environment. I was particularly impressed with the contact element of the games and am confident that they will grow from strength to strength as the season goes on given the excellent work being carried out by community coaches and teachers”.

The next league fixtures will be organised for the New Year.
