Community Blog 6!

posted on 13 December 2010

Hi Everyone!

We thought we’d check in and let you know what we’ve been up to over the past couple of weeks!

It’s been really difficult for us getting to our schools in the snow, but our trusty Defender from Guy Salmon Wakefield has helped us out massively and ensured that there was only one day where we were completely stuck and couldn’t get into schools.

Our kick It days have been going brilliant, with all the children involved loving the fact that they still get to do some exercise indoors and learn about Healthy Eating from Gavyn, Richard and Jodie. The team have been into Gawthorpe, Sandal Magna, Snapethorpe, Pinders Primary and Wrenthorpe to name but a few! All these schools were delivered the fantastic Kick It Day in conjunction with the Primary Care Trust.

Christmas is always a busy time of year for Daddy Cool, and this week is his busiest yet! This morning he has already visited the Maypole Childrens Centre and Haigh Road Primary School in Rothwell. He’s also been asked to visit Rodillian, Broomfield and Blackgates. We’ll post all these great pictures at the end of the week!

A highlight for the Community Team last week was the great success of the Season Launch. Everyone pulled together on the night, entertaining the boys and girls, taking care of the shirt presentation to the players and ensuring everything ran smoothly with the MACRON Fashion show. Daddy Cool – as usual – was brilliant and was around for the whole night. Another, was working with the players at St Michaels Primary school last Wednesday morning. It was great for the Players to swap places with the community team and see what we do on a day to day basis. The players were great!

As the snow has cleared, it is now safe for us to get our Children in Need trailer back out and about, and Dan is happy that he will be able to complete his final week with the St Michaels children on the Give it a Try, Aim High Project.

The Community Team will be working hard right up to Christmas, so we’ll drop you a Blog again next week – when we will all be very excited for the holidays!
