- Wakefield Wildcats are delighted to announce that Heart Research UK have extended their partnership with the Club for a further 3 years.
The pioneering charity has provided The Community Trust with £45,000 to enable The Wildcats to continue delivering their ‘Healthy Hearts Programme’.
The Healthy Hearts Programme is aimed at increasing participation in physical activity and increasing the awareness of heart disease amongst the people in Wakefield, using sport and dance as a vehicle.
The Wildcats Community Team deliver assemblies in schools throughout the area promoting healthy lifestyles and use Wildcats players as positive role models for the children. The assemblies look at key risk factors of heart disease and encourage people to take part in physical activity.
Assistant Director of Heart Research UK, Denise Armstrong, and the charity’s mascot, ‘Hartley The Heart’ came down to The Rapid Solicitors Stadium earlier this morning to visit The Community Department and have their photo taken with Club Captain Glenn Morrison.
Community Trust manager Davide Longo commented, “We’re very happy that Heart Research UK have continued their partnership with us. They have been key partners with The Club for 5 years and this extension will maintain the delivery of our schools programmes and will also offer new opportunities for adult participation.”
Assistant Director of Heart Research UK, Denise Armstrong added, “Heart Research UK are delighted to be yet again funding such a valuable project. The work that Wakefield Wildcats do in the community is extremely important and goes a long way to help young people make ‘Healthy Hearts’ choices.”
