Wakefield Trinity Wildcats played host for the local round of the Girls Year 11 Carnegie Champion Schools festival on Thursday 3rd February. The festival saw Castleford High School and St Wilfrid’s Catholic High School and Sixth Form College battle it out in a very physical game of rugby. The Carnegie Champion Schools tournament is the world’s biggest Rugby League knockout competition and one of the greatest success stories for the sport.
Women and Girls Rugby Development Officer Clare Marlow said “The game could have gone either way but Castleford High scored the winning try in the last minute of the game against a very good defensive side”. Both teams will now go through to the regional round of the Carnegie Champion schools competition that is being held on Wednesday 2nd March.
