Laurens a hit at Ryhill Junior School

posted on 7 February 2011

The Dance Academy is continuing to grow from strength to strength, thanks to the funding we recieve from Heart Research Uk to continue the Wildcats Street Dance Programme in schools.  As a result of the enthusiasm and committment of our Full-time Dance Development Officer Jodie Travis, not only has the Dance Academy seen many new faces join since last season, but also a demand for After School Clubs in and around the Wakefield Area.

To meet this demand we have now introduced Lauren Portman to the Academy, to teach the Wildcat Kittens and Wildcat Street Dance Classes alongside Jodie and Projects Manager Sarah.  Lauren has also set up up a Cheerleading class at Ryhill Junior and Infants School where she has 20 girls attend every week.

Lauren said “The girls at Rhyill have responded really well to the Wildcats After School Club.  After the first week they were all eager to get hold of a pair of poms and lots come in their cheerleading costumes – it’s really cute!  Hopefully we’ll be able to get them performing at a game soon”
