Murphy Ban Lifted on Appeal

posted on 17 February 2011

Wakefield Wildcats are pleased to inform fans that Aaron Murphy won his appeal last night against the two-match ban imposed for a dangerous throw, lift and drop in the game against Castleford Tigers.

The offence was reduced from Grade C to Grade A on appeal after the tribunal viewed a video showing the incident from a different angle to the ones presented at the original hearing on Tuesday.

The appeals tribunal ruled that Murphy was guilty of a lesser offence and ordered that the original £300 fine was sufficient punishment. Murphy was also warned about his future tackling technique.
