Children from Methodist, The Mount, Flanshaw and Lawfield received a fantastic surprise this week in the Wildcats Learning Zone, when Wildcats first team members managed to take time out from their busy training schedule to be interviewed by the children. The interviews form part of the literacy and IT skills that the children are developing whilst being at the Learning Zone. In addition, the children are also improving their interpersonal skills whilst meeting positive community role models.
Monday witnessed children interviewing Ben Gledhill, the children found out some interesting facts such as Ben’s phobia of snakes. Ben also gave out some important information as one child asked “if you were to give us one piece of advice, what would it be?” Ben replied “Don’t let anybody say you can’t do something, believe in yourself and work hard”. Other players to be interviewed were Ben Jeffries, Dale Ferguson and Kevin Henderson. The children all received a personalised autograph from the players and a picture. Wakefield Wildcats Community Trust Manager Davide Longo said “I would like to thank the players for there efforts this week. Its been a really challenging time for everyone at the club, its refreshing to see the players and children enjoying the time together whilst developing new skills”.
Next week, children will be treated once again to a Daddy Cool Stadium Tour, visiting areas such as the changing rooms, gymnasium, Boardroom and the Sky Sports Gantry.
