Wildcats Assistant Coach takes on Italian Role

Wildcats assistant coach, Paul ‘Beans’ Broadbent, has been offered the post of Assistant Technical Director for the Italian Rugby League, FIRL.

Paul’s recruitment comes with the news that the FIRL have secured Affiliate status within the Rugby League European Federation. Paul will take on the role along side his current position at The Wildcats and will be demonstrating his expertise and working with Italian Coach Carlo Napolitano. Together  they will manage the national side and develop the technicality of the sport in Italy.

Broadbent is an ex Great Britain and England International and won the Challenge Cup at Wembley with The Sheffield Eagles. When speaking of his new role Paul told us,  “I am very pleased to be involved in what I perceive to be a very enthusiastic and passionate organisation.”
 
“There is a need to develop game understanding and core skills in the Italian based players but there will be a real opportunity to see them move forward as an international force.”

“With World Cup 2013 qualifiers in the offing, this a very exciting time to get involved and I am thoroughly looking forward to the role and the challenge ahead.”
