Wildcats Statement

posted on 25 February 2011

Wakefield Wildcats have released a statement this morning regarding the headlines in today’s Wakefield Express.

An internal investigation is being undertaken by the club and until that concludes the club cannot, and will not, make any further statement.

However, in a week when the club was saved from possible extinction, taken over by a new Chairman, and produced a lot of positive news, we feel that the Wakefield Express could have handled a two week old story much better.

The Wakefield Wildcats have this week announced a fantastic half price offer on tickets for this weekend’s home game to allow as many fans as possible to be at the game to support the club. Alongside this great news, the future of the club has been safeguarded and a number of Andrew Glover’s plans to improve the future of the club have been announced, but none of this has been reported.

We find it a great shame that our local paper, who could have got behind the club and encouraged the people of Wakefield to turn out in their numbers on Sunday and support their local club, have ignored our positive and promising news and focussed on a 2 week old story.

This is Wakefield. Together We Are Stronger.
