Wildcats Street Dance Success

posted on 16 February 2011

On Tuesday the Wildcats Heart Research UK Street Dance Programme saw 200 children take part in the Street Dance Festival at Hemsworth High School.

For the past 5 weeks Dance Development officer Jodie Travis has been delivering Street Dance sessions to pupils from Hemsworth High School, Kinsley Primary, West End Primary, Hemsworth St Helens J & I and Ackworth Howard J & I.

Each school created a 2-3 minute routine based on street Dance. During the sessions the children were given a short motif that they had to perform within their routine and build upon using Cannon and unison. Through out the 5 weeks the children created high energy routines that were then showcased at the Festival in front of family, friends and teachers.

The festival ran brilliantly with each school performing their different routines individually and coming together at the end in the final piece. All the children were fantastic and there were definitely some little Ashley Banjos in the making!
