Wakefield Wildcats would like to inform all fans of some major road closures in Wakefield City Centre which may affect fans travelling on Sunday 27th March for our game against the Leeds Rhinos.
On Sunday, there will be one lane inbound at Kirkgate travelling underneath the Double Two bridge. Any traffic travelling outbound from Wakefield city centre will be directed along Ings Road and then behind Halfords. Thornes Lane, at the side of The Hepworth will also be fully closed. This will mean an increase in traffic travelling along Ings Road both ways.
It is also expected that Marsh Way will be reduced to two lanes on this day. This will be one lane inbound and one lane outbound. This may result in queues and may also have an impact on the amount of traffic using Ings Road.
As a result of these traffic management plans, it is expected that any issues will occur around Ings Road, as this is where the main increase in traffic is expected to be. Clear signs will be provided regarding diversions, however it is felt that any fans travelling to and from the game should be asked to avoid leaving/entering the M1 at junction 41 and travelling through the main area of the city centre.
We request that fans use the M62 and come via Normanton bypass or leave the M1 at junction 39 at Durkar to come past the Asda onto Barnsley Road and through Agbrigg.
We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
This is Wakefield. Together We Are Stronger.
