Wakefield Trinity Wildcats caught up with head coach John Kear this morning to discuss Friday’s win and the upcoming game against The Rhinos.
The 20-6 victory over Hull FC on Friday night has boosted the team both physically and mentally. John Kear told us, “The feeling in the changing room after the game was one of elation and happiness.”
“I was very happy with the performance and thought all 17 players put in 100% effort. It’s like a jigsaw puzzle, if there’s a piece missing, there’s a weak link, and there were no weak links that night.”
John understands that although the win is great news for the team, there are many fixtures ahead that the guys now need to focus on, “We have been enjoying the moment but have made sure that we prepare for Sunday’s clash against the Rhinos and stay focussed on the game ahead. After the disappointing game following our victory in Catalans, we need to back up a good performance with a very good performance, and we are working hard to do that.”
The Wildcats take on the Leeds Rhinos on Sunday at 3.30pm in what is sure to be a tough, exciting contest. John Kear knows what the Rhinos are capable of, “Leeds are an exceptional side, they can be very difficult to stop when they hit the ground running. We need to apply the pressure and enjoy the challenge of playing against such outstanding rugby league players.”
“We will work our hardest to nullify their expansive game and hopefully leave with the two points on Sunday afternoon.”
