Dean and Johnson in Frontline Index Team of the Round!

posted on 14 April 2011

Wakefield Trinity Wildcats have had two players named in the Engage Super League’s ‘Frontline Index Team of The Round’ this week.

Centre Chris Dean and Prop Forward Paul Johnson have been included in the line up after their impressive performances on Sunday in the fantastic 52-32 victory over Harlequins RL.

Castleford’s Rangi Chase has been named Player of the Round and is joined in the team, which is compiled from a mathematical model based on Opta’s analysis of all matches, by team-mates Richard Mathers and Kirk Dixon.

Team of the Round regulars James Roby and James Graham from St Helens once again occupy positions and are joined by Ade Gardner this week. Making up the Frontline Index Team of the Round are Leeds Rhinos winger Kallum Watkins, Catalan Dragons’ Steve Menzies, Hull FC’s Danny Tickle and Harlequins RL captain Rob Purdham.

Points are calculated from every action made by players with every involvement given a points value depending on the importance and frequency of the action. For example a try would be the highest scoring value, with actions such as tackles and carries scoring smaller values. Mistakes such as handling errors or penalties conceded would incur negative values.

At the end of a match, all the players’ actions will be added together to give a game score. The 13 individuals with the highest scores in each position on the field of play will earn inclusion in the Frontline Index Team of the Week with the highest scoring individual earning the Frontline Index Player of the Week title.
