posted on 20 April 2011

The Wakefield Trinity Wildcats and The Castleford Tigers will be fighting for more than just 2 points this Friday.

Adam WateneThe eagerly anticipated derby match between the two fierce rivals will have the Adam Watene Trophy at stake.

The trophy is named after the late Wakefield and Castleford New Zealand Prop Forward who sadly passed away in 2008. The special trophy is at stake in just one game per season between Adam’s two former clubs and this year it will be the Easter Derby Battle.

The trophy will be presented to the winner of Friday’s match by Adrian Vowles, a close friend of Adam’s and a fundraiser through the Burleigh Bears for the Adam Watene Fund. He will be joined by Councilor Clive Hudson. The Wakefield Trinity Wildcats will be eager to get the trophy in their possesion as The Tigers  have kept hold of it for the past two years. The game is set to be an unmissable, exciting contest and will be even more memorable with such a special trophy at stake.

The game kicks off at 7.30pm on Friday at The Probiz Coliseum. Tickets are on sale in The Wildcats Superstore until 12pm on Friday, come down and get yours now and don’t miss out on one of the most anticipated games of the year!
