Wakefield Trinity Wildcats Head Coach John Kear firmly believes that his side are a force to be reckoned with in the Challenge Cup this season.
With the big Wakefield vs Castleford derby only four days away all the focus is on the game ahead. Speaking earlier John told us, “This is a very big game and there’s a lot riding on it. There’s a positive aura around the place – we’re ready.”
John is fully aware of how tough the game will be and understands how desperate both teams are to win. “Cas are an outstanding team, perhaps their form has dipped in recent wekks but they proved their capabilities earlier on in the season with their creative, attacking plays. We need to be prepared and focussed to deal with that and we are working hard to make sure that happens, I’m happy with where we’re at in preperation for the game.”
The team went sailing into the fifth round after a 50-10 victory over Doncaster RLFC on Sunday 8th May. There are now only 3 more games to play until the Wakefield Trinity Wildcats could find themselves in the Challenge Cup Final. John added, “Both teams will fancy their spot in the final and will be eager to make it to the final round. There’s not long now, only 2 more games after this weekend and you’re there, you can practically smell it once you get to the quarters!”
“We have to take it one step at a time though and at the moment there is massive hurdle to clear this weekend in the shape of Castleford, just as I’m sure they will belive that we are a big hurdle for them aswell.”
