The Wakefield College RLDC has had their most successful season up to date finishing second in their respective league amassing over seven hundred points and only conceding just over a hundred, losing only one game all season.
The College reached the Final of the Yorkshire Cup where they overcame league winners Hull in a tense final held at Castleford Lock Lane, with a winning margin of 40 – 28. From there they progressed to the National colleges Final, overcoming such sides as York, Salford and Wales to reach the final where they faced the highly fancied Hopwood hall. Wakefield entered the final due to injury and illness with only 15 fully fit men, but they defended courageously and with two tries courtesy of the man of the match Ryan Parker came away worthy victors with a score line of 20 – 14.
Coaches Mick Bamford and James Ford said “ The boys have been fantastic over the season, they have brought with them a great work ethic and a desire to improve themselves each week, and they thoroughly deserve all the success that they have achieved”
