Wildie extends stay at The Wildcats

Wakefield Trinity Wildcats are delighted to announce that talented, young hooker Matthew Wildie has signed a two year contract extension at the Club.

The capture of Matty’s signature  marks the second contract extension that the club has secured in less than a week with strong forward Frankie Mariano putting pen to paper last Friday.

The 20 year old  has found great form this season  and has really hit the ground running. With a string of impressive performances in the reserves team Matthew has seen himself appearing in a number of first team fixtures and has earned his spot in the starting line up on a number of occasions.

The former junior international joined the Wildcats academy seven years ago and has stayed loyal to the Wakefield Club ever since. Speaking earlier Wildie told us that he couldn’t imagine playing anywhere else, “I’m really happy to have signed another contract here, ever since I was a child all I have wanted to do is play for Wakefield and it’s fantastic that I’m finally living that dream.”

“I’m looking forward to a great few years here and I hope I cement myself as first team regular. I’d like to thank everyone at the Club for giving me this opportunity.”

Wakefield Trinity Wildcats Chief Executive James Elston added, “It’s fantastic to have Matty on board, he epitomises everything we want to do with the future of Wakefield Trinity Wildcats and that is to sign and keep local home grown talent.”

“Matty has truly earned this extension and we look forward to seeing him become an established Wakefield first team player.”

This is Wakefield. Together We Are Stronger.
