The Wakefield Trinity Wildcats had a fantastic night in The Rugby League 9′s tournament last night at The Shay, winning all three of their matches.
The Wildcats took on Halifax, Bradford and Hull FC last night in the third round of the competition. The Wildcats had previously picked up a total of 8 points after winning 2 games in round 1 and 2 games in round 2.
Wakefield claimed victories over all three of their opponents, including a double over local side Halifax RLFC. Wakefield and Halifax began proceedings in a game that ended in a 26-0 thrashing by The Wildcats. Another victory came shortly after as the Wildcats beat Bradford Bulls 26 points to 4 and the evening then came to a perfect finish with a close 18-14 victory over Hull FC, maintaining the Wildcats 100% win record for the night.
Reserves player Liam Kaye was one of the standout performers racking up a whopping total of 9 tries throughout the evening. First Team prop Paul King was another star of the night with some impressive footwork and powerful runs.
The Wildcats will be taking 14 points with them into the fourth round of the tournament next Tuesday, 28th June, at The Probiz Coliseum against Castleford, Halifax and Hull KR. Watch this space for ticket and squad information!
