The Wakefield Trinity Wildcats had another fantastic evening in Round 4 of the Rugby League 9?s last night that has left them sitting top of the table!
The Wakefield side won all three of their matches and continued their 100% winning streak after winning all their fixtures in the previous round as well. The Wildcats entered the round in 2nd place in the East Region League Table, but after their impressive victories last night they have now overtaken Castleford Tigers, who only won one game last night, and are sat in 1st place due to points difference.
The Wildcats began the evening with a 30-19 victory over Hull KR, shortly followed by a 30 points to 4 thrashing over Champion side Halifax. The biggest game of the night was saved till last, with the Wakefield versus Castleford local derby. The game was a tense and ‘tasty’ one to say the least, but The Wildcats came out champions and claimed a fantastic 18-10 victory over the local rivals.
Liam Kaye, who impressed last week scoring a whopping 9 tries, had another exceptional game making a further 4 touch downs. James Davey posed a constant threat around the ruck, Dale Morton showed a combination of speed and skill and Motu Tony demonstrated his years of experience and stood out as a succesful Super League player. Strong forwards Kyle Trout and Russ Spiers drove forward well and showed determination and power in all three fixtures.
The Wakefield Trinity Wildcats will be storming into next weeks Grand Final on Tuesday 5th July at Headingely Carnegie Stadium where they will take on Salford City Reds in the opening qualifier at 6.20pm.
