This weekend saw the Wakefield Trinity Wildcats FTUK team finish runners up at Huddersfield’s first annual female touch rugby festival. Wakefield booked their place in the final by winning three and drawing two of their matches, but it was a Leeds Rhinos WAGS side that eventually won the competition.
Held at Huddersfield’s DRAM Centre, the free festival was held to encourage more women to get involved in rugby league through FTUK. The tournament was open to players of all abilities, ranging from those who have never played before, to those who regularly play at an amateur level, like competition winners Leeds.
Coming up next on the 31st of July, Wakefield will be holding their own 6-a-side FTUK tournament. Each player will receive a complimentary ticket to the Wakefield Wildcats v Crusaders match following the festival. The festival is open to players of all abilities over the age of 14.
