Former Trinity Employee Gets PhysioWise!

posted on 25 July 2011

One of the most recent additions to the string of advertising banners on the Wildcats Hospitality boxes, is one for ‘PhysioWise’ a local physiotherapy and sports injury clinic run by a former Wakefield employee.

Physiowise is run by local chartered physiotherapist, Lee Robinson, who was one of the Trinity backroom boys in the late 1980s.

The former member of staff commented, “I was lucky enough to join the Trinity staff as physiotherapist in 1985, working my way through the Colts (under 19s) side, Alliance (reserves) and up to the First Team.”

“Trevor Bailey and Len Casey were the first coaches I worked with but for my last 6 years, David Topliss was head coach. I had the opportunity of working with some world class players in Ray Price, Mark Graham, Steve Ella and James Leuluai, as well as local legends such as Nigel Bell, Johnny Thompson, Billy Conway and Mark Conway.”

“I was also lucky enough to gain international honours whilst at Trinity, and Trinity contacts also gave me the opportunity of visiting Australia, working in the NRL to improve my physiotherapy skills”

The physio role in the game has changed a great deal since those days and Lee still remembers having just a couple of hours on Tuesday and Thursday training nights to treat the whole team and of course remembers running around Belle Vue with his “magic sponge”! The service is now a much more high tech role and a lot of hours are required to deal with the amount of full time players.

Lee has been in private practice for 13 years now, having opened Physiowise in 2007 in the town centre behind Wakefield College. His family have remained avid Trinity fans throughout the years with his father, Brian, having been on the terraces since the 1960s as well as being a recognisable photographer at Trinity in the 1990s.

Everyone at the club would like to wish Lee all the best with his private practice and look forward to seeing him at games in the near future.

This is Wakefield. Together We Are Stronger.
