Year 7 and 8 girls from Outwood Grange Academy attended the Jane Tomlinson Rugby tournament at Leeds Rhinos last week. They were placed into a tough group which saw them entertain the likes of Cockburn an Castleford High A team. The girls drew one match and won two of their group stage matches beating local rivals Castleford by 3 ttrys to nil. This was the girls very first victory over Castleford High. They girls won their group stage and faced Castleford High B team in the semi final. The game was extremely close and showed great skill and team work from both teams. The final score was 1 try to nil, putting Outwood Grange in the final against Corpus Christi Catholic College from Leeds.
The match was neck and neck all the way to the finish with some creative and highly skilled rugby from either side. The match went into extra time with neither team wiling to accept defeat. The golden point was scored in extra time by the Captain Lucy Robinson who was undoubtably the woman of the tournament.
The success is purely down to the hard work and dedication to training and matches that the girls have shown all year. Due to their commitment and commitment from Clare Marlow at Wildcats, they thouroughly deserve this win!
Massive congratulations to all the team:
