Wildcats Full Squad School Visit!

posted on 6 July 2011

The whole Wakefield Trinity Wildcats First Team squad visited Lofthouse Gate Primary School this morning to lead a coaching session with the youngsters.

‘Wildcats in Your School’ is a community programme that rewards schools that have been actively involved with The Wildcats and partaken in different Wildcats sessions. Lofthouse Gate is the second school that have been lucky enough to recieve a visit from the whole first team squad and be coached by their idols.

The session was organised by Sports Coordinator, Paul Denning, as part of the schools ‘Sports Activity Week’. The first team squad were split into different teams and all coached the Year 5 and 6 children in activities such as kick tennis and ‘rob the nest’ and lead them through a tackle gauntlet.

When the one and a half hour session was over the whole school were then invited to meet the team and get their autographs. All the children loved the session and were excited to meet The Wildcats players.

Wildcats Community Development Officer Jodie Travis commented, “The activity this morning was a huge success. The children thoroughly enjoyed the full squad visit and all the players were great with the kids. It’s fantastic that we’re able to deliver this service to local schools and actively involve them with so many players.”

“The Wakefield Trinity Wildcats are the only club to do these school visits on such a large scale with the full team taking part and it’sĀ great that we can offer such an experience to our local community.”

This is Wakefield. Together We Are Stronger.
