The Wakefield Trinity Wildcats Community Team and Daddy Cool made a very special visit to the children’s ward at Pinderfields Hospital yesterday for the second time this month.
The team visited four year old Wildcats fan Jacob, who has been a patient at Pinderfields for two-and-a-half weeks as he is awaiting an operation on his leg. As a result, his Mum and staff at Pinderfields made contact with us to see if we could pay him a special visit.
On arrival Daddy Cool presented Jacob with a signed Wakefield Trinity Wildcats ball, a Daddy Cool teddy bear and a card wishing him a speedy recovery. Jacob and his mum welcomed us into his room with open arms being the keen Wildcat fans that they are. His room was dressed with Wildcats shirts, and match programmes to make him feel at home.
One of the ward nurses said “Jacob has been looking forward to the Wildcats visit since last Friday and is overwhelmed that he got to meet Daddy Cool and Wildcats staff members.’
Wildcats Community Officer Gavyn Lighthowler who attended the visit commented, “It’s always a pleasure to take the time to visit patients at Pinderfields and even more rewarding when we leave the young people with smiles on their faces”.
“After a busy week at Summer Camp last week it is always refreshing to make worthwhile visits out in the community to brighten up people’s days.”
On behalf of the Wildcats we would like to wish Jacob and the rest of the patients at Pinderfields a speedy recovery.
This is Wakefield. Together We Are Stronger.
