The Wakefield Trinity Wildcats Reserves claimed a fantastic 46-22 victory over Hull Kingston Rovers on Saturday afternoon at Craven Park.
An experienced, strong looking Rovers side felt the heat of the Wildcats attack as they ran in a total of 9 tries past the home side throughout the course of the full eighty minutes.
Wakefield opened the scoring with strong Samy Masselot powering over the line and another touch down from Danny Cowling just moments later took the scores to 10-4. Three quick Hull KR tries soon put the home side ahead but a try from Trout and another two from Cowling to secure a superb hat trick took the scores to 28-18 to the visitors at half time.
The second half began with young Tom Hodson crossing the line and further extending the Wildcats lead. A try from Hull KR just moments later shortened the gap for the Rovers but Wakefield responded well with an improvement in defence and kept the home side to what was to be their final try of the game.
Three more Red, White and Blue touchdowns from debutant Ryan Tongia, winger Dale Morton and hooker James Davey respectively gave the Wildcats the victory and ended the game on 46 points to 22 to the visiting side.
Impressive performances from Lee Brickwood, Ryan Tongia and Kyle Trout helped guide the Wildcats to victory and a completion rate of 93% in the first half set the youngsters in good stead. Kyle Trout proved to be one of the busiest men on the field , topping both the hit ups and tackle count for the match.
The win has kept the boys in fourth spot in the table and leaves them remaining confident of a play-off position come the end of the season. With a run against Warrington, Leeds and Castleford ahead of them the Wildcats youngsters will be keen to claim more victories to seal their chances of play off glory.
Hull FC sit one place above The Wildcats, but with two games in hand the Wakefield Reserves look set to over take the Hull side if their impressive run of form continues. The team take on Warrington Wolves on Saturday at 1.30pm at Wilderspool Stadium.
Good Luck boys!
This is Wakefield. Together We Are Stronger.
