The Wakefield Trinity Wildcats are running a new feature on the website to allow our supporters to find out more about our official club partners and sponsors.
‘Sponsors Spotlight’ will give companies the chance to tell us about their business and allow fans to get to know the people that we work with.
First up is Tony Revans Financial Planning, the player sponsor of prop forward Paul Johnson. Tony is a Wakefield business man and has been a Wildcats fan all his life, let’s find out more about his financial planning company and the reasons why he is working with the club.
Tell us about your company – Tony Revans Financial Planning established in 2000 and is an Independent Financial Planning Practice with highly qualified advisors specialising in pension investments and corporate financial planning.
What is your role in the Company? I am the principal and founder of Tony Revans Financial Planning.
What makes your company stand out from the rest? My belly! (only joking, see next question)
Why should our supporters use your products/services? Our practice focuses on client needs not product selling. Unfortunately in the current climate many financial institutions seem to do the latter, i.e. have a product to push or to sell. We take time to understand our clients needs and fulfil them with bespoke advice and recommendations.
How and why did you get involved with the Wildcats? In the mid 80’s when working for an insurance company in Wakefield I used to call on the late John Jackson of John Jackson Insurance Services. John was a Trinity fan and ex union and league player but sadly has since passed away. However he took me to my first game, Trinity v Leeds at Headingley and I was hooked. More recently, I got involved in the club and sponsored Paul Johnson as a gesture of support for the new regime post the administration. I have also supported the club by using the 1873 Suite and a great deal of that is down to Martin Hopkins’ enthusiastic promotion of the club and its facilities. We have never been disappointed!
What is the best moment whilst you have been involved with the Wildcats? It has got to be hearing that the new regime has been successful in rescuing the club! And travelling to France for the Catalan game in February 2011, praying that the team would turn up and then they did – celebrating a win with a hardy band of supporters that had also made the trip.
If you could employ any Wakefield player/staff member who would it be and why? It’s got to be Julien Rinaldi for his enthusiasm and leadership that he shows on the pitch and also for being a player who always makes his way to the fans, particularly at away games. I think someone like Julien in your business would provide great leadership and motivation to others showing what good application, enthusiam and hard work can achieve.
Who is favorite player and why? Julien, obviously from the above but Glenn Morrison also, for putting his body on the line and of course Paul Johnson for his driving runs and unquestionable work ethic.
Outside of work what do you most enjoy? Taking off on the motorbike and enjoying the open road, holidaying and spending time with children and grandchildren and of course “watching the mighty Trin”.
Who is your hero and why? My dad, he was the best example of how a man should live.
What did you want to be when you were a child? Old enough to ride motorbikes!!
