Wildcats Injury Update

posted on 17 August 2011

The Wakefield Trinity Wildcats would like to inform fans of the current injuries in the first team squad.

Wildcats centre Aaron Murphy has received the blow that a wrist injury he has been carrying for a number of weeks needs surgery for it to repair. Despite playing with the injury, the 22 year old has been informed that the operation cannot be delayed any further and he will unfortunately miss the rest of the season.

Josh Griffin sustained a knee injury in the game against Crusaders RL and has been out of action since then. He is now vastly improving in training but will not be fit for this weekend’s fixture along with winger Luke George who is still suffering from an ankle strain.

Frankie Mariano will also be forced to watch from the sidelines this weekend due to an ankle sprain that he picked up in the game against Warrington last weekend. Full back Matthew Blaymire’s knee operation that he underwent last week was a success and he is now back in training beginning his rehabilitation. Matthew will unfortunately be out of action for a number of weeks and therefore won’t return for the remainder of the 2011 season.

The full squad for Saturday’s big game against The Castleford Tigers will be announced tomorrow lunch time. Keep your eye out on the website to see who is in the line up for the ultimate derby battle!
