Wilkes is a Wildcat Again

The Wakefield Trinity Wildcats are delighted to announce yet another new signing.

31 year old prop Oliver Wilkes is returning to the Wildcats on a two year deal that will see him back in the red, white and blue until 2013.

The strong forward has joined the club from London based Harlequins, a club at which he has spent two years. In a career span that has seen him play for Sheffield, Keighley, Leigh, Widnes, Whitehaven, Wigan, Harlequins and Wakefield, Oliver has a wealth of experience that he can bring with him into the next two seasons.

Wilkes spent a very successful two years at Wakefield in the 2008 and 2009 season and helped the club reach a fifth spot finish and make it into the play-offs. Oliver played every fixture but one for The Wildcats due to a training injury and was a certain fans favourite due to his ‘all or nothing’ attitude.

Wilkes has represented Scotland on 11 occasions and his strength and power make him a handful for any challenging opponent.

Wildcats Chief Executive James Elston is thrilled to welcome Oliver back to the club, “Oli is a fantastic signing for us, he was a very popular player with our fans when he was here two years ago and he is an incredibly talented forward to have on your team.”

“I’m delighted that we have captured Oli’s signature for the next two years and I am certain he will impress in Wakefield colours once again.”

Oliver added, “I’m chuffed to be coming back to Wakefield. I really enjoyed my time here and I have many fond memories throughout the two years that I was here.”

“I’d like to thank Harlequins for a great two years and I wish them all the best for the future. I’m really looking forward to my new career at Wakefield, I think the club are going in the right direction and I’m really happy to be a part of their new era going forward.”

This is Wakefield. Together We Are Stronger.
