The Wakefield Trinity Wildcats Community Team are back in full swing now that the school term has begun once again.
The team have started their sessions in a number of schools throughout the City with Development Officers Dan Hardy, Gav Lightowler, Jodie Travis, Clare Marlow and Richard Cattley hard at work delivering coaching programmes.
Classes and workshops are given to pupils in both Rugby League and Dance throghout the year, including festivals, performances and competitions.
This half term Rugby sessions are being delivered at schools in Eastmoor, Thornes, Flanshaw, Sandal, Walton, Crofton and Barnsley. Dance workshops are being delivered throughout the Kettlethorpe and Crigglestone area and no less than three rugby festivals have been arranged for the week beginning October 17th, with a dance festival being scheduled for week beginning 10th October.
The ever successful ‘Wildcats Learning Zone’ is also back up and running with Sandal Endowed Primary being the first school to take part in the lessons. Touch Rugby taster sessions are also being held at Wakefield College and Leeds City College and have proven to be a big hit with over 200 children having already taken part.
Richard Cattley commented, “It’s great to be back out in schools. We have 5 development officers out and about in the district at a huge amount of schools spreading the word of the Wildcats through rugby and dance.”
“The community department keeps growing year on year and this is being proved by such a big intake of schools wanting us in to deliver our programmes. It will be great to see them all come together at the end of the half term to see the fruits of our labours put on show in the rugby and dance festivals”.
The team will be out and about over the next few weeks delivering Membership Assemblies to a whole host of children throughout the area. Keep an eye out for the guys and girls in your school and make sure you don’t miss out on the offer to have your very own season ticket for next year for just £20!
