The Wildcats Reserves claimed a nail biting 26-20 victory on Saturday afternoon against the Leeds Rhinos.
The youngsters are mid way their through their play off battle and the win this weekend at The Rapid Solicitors Stadium has secured their place in the semi finals next week.
Kyle Trout was the first to put points on the board with a try after just three minutes, Dale Morton converted to give the home side a 6-0 lead. 2 quick Leeds tries put the visitors ahead but with just moments to go until the half time hooter was heard, Danny Cowling dived over the line and put the Wildcats in front by 12 points to 10.
After a tight first half, it was the Rhinos that were the first to open the scoring in the second part of the game taking the scores to 12-14. Wakefield responded well with a touch down from Dale Morton but Leeds followed with a try of their own. With just two minutes left on the clock winger dale Morton got his second try of the game and an unsuccesful conversion levelled the scores at 20 points a piece.
As the game looked to be over with just seconds remaining, Wakefield took their last set of 6 and Lucas Walshaw powered over the line. With Morton successfully adding the extras with the boot the Wildcats claimed a fantastic 26-20 victory and sailed into the semi finals this weekend.
The young guns will take on the Wigan Warriors this Sunday in their fight to make it to the big Grand Final! The semi final contest takes place at The Co-Operative Stadium in Orrell at 12pm.
