Wildcats Set Up Girls Rugby Club

posted on 15 September 2011

The Wakefield Trinity Wildcats have further developed Girls Rugby in the city.

After receiving funding from Sport England through the Community Investment Fund girls rugby has grown from strength to strength in Wakefield over the past three years. As a result Wakefield Wildcats Women and Girls Development Officer, Clare Marlow has been working with Eastmoor Dragons ARLFC to set up a girls section.

The Girl’s Rugby Club is currently based at Eastmoor Dragons ARLFC in Wakefield. The girls train once a week and are encouraged to partake in RFL rugby festivals which run from September, 2011 to July, 2012. The festivals are held at various venues around Yorkshire providing the girls with the opportunity to play at U’12s, U’14s, U’16s & U’18’s.

The club is always searching for more girls to attend and give it a go! Training is on a Wednesday from 6.00pm to 7.00pm and we welcome girls of mixed abilities under the age of 18.

There are great opportunities to progress along the Player Pathway for anyone that has a flare for the sport and enjoys playing competitively.

If you require any further information about the training or playing opportunities then please contact Clare Marlow on 01924 211611 or via email at claremarlow@wakefieldwildcats.co.uk.

This is Wakefield. Together We Are Stronger.
