The Wakefield Trinity Wildcats Reserves and Academy team celebrated their End of Season Awards night at The Rapid Solicitors Stadium on Tuesday evening.

The reserves, who have finished third in the table and earned themselves a spot in the play offs this season, have had a great year claiming a number of compelling victories. The academy side have also had a fantastic year with players continuing to develop and mature and with new members succesfully settling into a positive, encouraging environment.

The full squad and coaching staff attended the event to award the players that have shone this season. Wildcats Chairman Andrew Glover presented the trophies to the young starlets, who were all invited to attend the ‘Celebrate Wakefield’ event on Tuesday 13th September, and Head of Youth Performance Tony Drury and Chief Executive James Elston gave speeches to the attendees.

Adam Gledhill scooped up two awards for the Under 18′s claiming both the Coaches Player and the Players Player trophies. Gareth Croft claimed the Man of Steel award and Ben Shulver was named as the ‘One To Watch’.

Kyle Trout left with the Players Player award after a fantastic season with the Reserves and Liam Kaye picked up the trophy for the Coaches Player after impressing the coaching staff throughout the year. Russ Spiers was named the reserves 2011 Man of Steel, an award that he will take with him into the first team squad next year.

Tony Drury commented, “It’s great to see the youth at the club at every age group proving to be competitive and successful with a large number of players pushing through into the first team.”

“I’m really pleased for all the award winners and I look forward to seeing them develop further next year. I wish all the players all the best for the next season and wish the reserves good luck in the play offs!”

Everyone at the Club would like to congratulate all the young players on their awards. The evening proved that the future of the club are set to impress once again and are sure to be seen succeeding at Super League level in no time!
