The Wildcat Dolls held their ever popular try outs last week.
The auditions took place at The Rapid Solicitors Stadium with 15 young hopefuls aged between 15 and 19 attending, hoping to make it into the top class dance troupe.
All the auditionees were put through their paces learning a routine taught by current members of the Dolls Squad. The girls performed to ‘Moves Like Jagger’ by Maroon 5 and Christina Aguilera and showcased their talent to the judges.
Wildcats Development Officers Richard Cattley and Dan Hardy made up one half of the judging panel with Head of The Wildcat Dolls Sarah Elston and Wakefield’s Got Talent Winner Leanne Crowther completing the other half.
After an impressive set of try outs, 9 girls have now been chosen to attend rehearsals and will come straight into the mix when Sarah Elston is choosing girls for different events. Pictured top left to right, Charlotte Columbine, Lauren Crowcroft, Charlotte Radcliffe, Lauren Walsh, Evie Turner, Kelly Wright, Lauren Bell, Steph Gallagher and Sarah Davies have all successfully made it into the squad.
One new Doll Evie Turner commented, “I’ve been looking forward to auditioning for a while now but I’ve always looked too young. Now that I’m nearly 18 I felt I was ready and I had so much fun at the try outs.”
“I have worked with Sarah for years and I’m so pleased that I’ve finally made it into the Dolls. I’m really excited to get working with the girls and to perform at my first event!”
Sarah Elston was very impressed with what she saw on the night, “It’s always great to find new talent, recently we’ve had a couple of girls go off to university, get dancing contracts away from home, so I needed to find new girls.”
“Often we have 2 events on the same day so rather than turn events down its good to have a larger group of girls to call upon. I choose girls who put in 100% effort, have a good luck, and a style that fits in with the Dolls image – I found 9 girls who have just that!”
The Dolls were busy last weekend performing at the Championship Grand Finals in Warrington. After a couple of days of rehearsals and training the girls officialy opened the Jason Manford gig at The Batley Frontier on Wednesday night and performed a burlesque routine to wow spectators. The dolls next performance will be on Tuesday evening at Trinity Walk Shopping Centre for Wakefield’s Next Top Model.
