Head coach Richard Agar is confident that continued growth of the innovative Club 1873 membership scheme will reap tremendous benefits for the Wildcats, on and off the pitch, for years to come.

Agar (pictured with membership manager Jonny Wootton) took time out from his busy pre season preparatory schedule to talk with tremendous enthusiasm about how Club 1873 can ensure that Wakefield Wildcats’ youth development programme could become the envy of Super League.

He said: “I think Club 1873 is a superb scheme in that all the money raised goes straight into the club’s youth development programme.

“This money will ensure the club will identify and secure the very best local talent, but more important than that, we can develop each player in every way to give them the best possible chance of becoming a Super League player with Wakefield Trinity Wildcats.

“We have a great youth development set-up here already with Tony Drury and John Kain working extremely hard but more Club 1873 members means we will be able to do even more for each and every player.

“We are a club very much for the player and treat them accordingly. It’s a case of helping each player develop physically, technically, socially and psychologically and when this is achieved you can have a great player on your hands and that’s our intention.”

Agar will push the button for this weekend’s all important lottery draw. To see if you’re a winner, check the website on Sunday!
