Wildcats returnee Danny Kirmond is keen to get back to Wakefield and pull on the red, white and blue shirt once again.
Kirmond returns to Wakefield after enjoying a one year loan spell at Belle Vue in 2010. The 25 year old second rower has joined the Wildcats on a three year deal after signing for the Giants back in 2008 and makes the move along with fellow team mate Andy Raleigh.
Speaking earlier to Yorkshire Radio Danny admits that the decision to join the Wildcats was an easy one for him, “I know a lot of the players here at Wakefield and it’s my local club. More than anything though, it was very clear that they are now a club that are really moving forward. A lot of key signings have been made, the club is being run very well and it’s obvious that there are good times ahead.
I was concerned that I wasn’t playing enough games at Huddersfield and I knew that more playing time would boost my confidence. I’m looking forward to hopefully forcing my way into regular first team football at the Wildcats.”
Although Danny is looking forward to joining Wakefield, he has enjoyed a great three year spell with the Giants. He added, “It’s been awesome at Huddersfield, I’ve enjoyed every moment and I’m very grateful for the opportunity I was given there to play full time Super League. I have nothing but happy memories.
It’s been tough not playing regularly but if I increase my game time at the Wildcats I’m confident that I will pick up more consistency and I think fans will see the best out of me again.”
Kirmond is a Wakefield lad living close to Featherstone, the town in which Head Coach Richard Agar is also from. Danny told us that he has spoken to Richard on a number of occasions and has heard many good things from fellow players such as Graeme Horne.
“I’m really looking forward to working underneath Richard, he’s a highly respected coach throughout the game. Behind the scenes James Elston and Andrew Glover are working hard building a strong squad with Richard. There’s great depth to the side next year which is vital in Super League, there won’t just be a strong 17 there will be a strong squad.”
Danny will join the rest of the team in November as the gruelling pre season training programme will begin in preparation for the 2012 Super League season ahead. Don’t miss out on seeing Danny and a whole host of other new recruits in action next year for The Wildcats!
The unbeatable season ticket offer has now been extended until December 1st with supporters being able to watch all 13 home games for an unbelievable £100 for adults, £80 for concessions and £20 for juniors.
