2011 Player of the Year, Paul Johnson says he is aiming to impress once again in Super League XVII.

2011 Player of the Year Paul Johnson is out to impress once again in 2012

The prop forward was one of a number of strong performers in the Boxing Day friendly against Leeds Rhinos as the Wildcats gear up for the start of the new campaign which is now just a month away, with further warm-up matches starting against Sheffield Eagles at the Rapid Solicitors Stadium on Friday night (kick-off: 7.45pm).

“It’s like another fresh start again this year,” said the 23-year old after the Festive Challenge.

“There are new coaches and new players to impress so I just want to try and play well every week and hopefully have a decent year.

“We started really well against Leeds, completed our sets and kept them down their end.  I think we made a few mistakes and let it slip in the second half but all-in-all it was a pretty good performance.

“Everyone’s new as well so I’m sure the next time we play we’ll be able to kick-on.

“I think we can take a lot of positives out of it and I’m sure we’ll take the negatives out of it as well and work on them so we can take quite a lot out of the game.”

Admission prices for this Friday’s friendly against the Eagles have been revised and are now priced at £10 for adults, £5 for students/concessions and £1 for under 16’s.

Entry is pay on the gate only and no advance tickets are available.
