Wildcats loose-forward, Danny Washbrook, says he and his team mates will be out to make an instant impression on Stobart Super League XVII when they face Widnes Vikings on Friday night (kick-off: 8pm).

Danny Washbrook has told the Yorkshire Evening Post that the Wildcats are out to make an instant impression on Stobart Super League XVII.

Dennis Betts’ new boys have been given top billing in the opening weekend of the campaign in front of the Sky Sports cameras and the Wildcats arrive hoping to spoil their return to the big time with a new look squad under Richard Agar.

Speaking to Tuesday’s Yorkshire Evening Post, the former Hull FC man says the Wildcats are equally as keen to get the 2012 campaign off to a good start.

“Widnes are sort of in the same situation as us. They have built a completely new team so it will be an interesting start,” said Washbrook, who scored two tries in the warm-up clash against Castleford Tigers.

“They will be wanting to make an impression on Super League having come back up and we want to make an impression as well.

“In Super League it is not how you start, it’s how you finish, but obviously the more points you can get on the board the better.

“If you win your first game that’s two points straight away and we are going all out to pick up as many as we can.”
