WILDCATS FAN LIVES LIFE ON THE COACHING STAFF

Wildcats fan, Rob Lockwood, swapped the terraces for the changing rooms this weekend as he joined Richard Agar and his coaching staff.

Rob Lockwood spent the weekend shadowing Wildcats Head Coach, Richard Agar.

Over the weekend, whilst the Wildcats team were in preparation for their last warm-up match with Castleford Tigers, Rob was given an experience he is sure never to forget as he shadowed Agar and his coaching staff across the weekend.

The opportunity to join the coaching staff for a matchday was auctioned at the 2011 Celebrate Wakefield event, but the Wildcats Head Coach offered Rob the chance to also join the team in their final training session.

On the Saturday morning Rob was introduced to each member of the staff and met the players whilst watching the team go through their final team run ahead of the Tigers clash.

Come game day and Rob followed the teams match preperation up to kick-off, in the dressing room as the team prepared to go out and face their local rivals before joining Agar and Assistant Coach, James Webster in the hospitality boxes to see how they control the team in the heat of battle.

“I found it a really enjoyable experience,” said Rob, who sponsors Wildcats skipper, Steve Southern.

“Richard and all the coaching staff were good hosts and very welcoming to me.

“It was a really good insight to behind the scenes at the club and I didn’t expect to see how Richard, Glenn and James analyse a game.

“They didn’t hide anything from me. Everyone I met in my time there was a real credit to the club.”

Any Wakefield fan would jump at the chance to be shown round their favourite club and Rob was no exception, making the most out of evey minute he was there.

“My wife bought me it as a birthday present and I’m already telling her to invest again for next year. I would do it every weekend if I could.”

This is Wakefield. Together We Are Stronger.
